Prepare for Spring
If you have been "munching out" the winter blues for the past two or three months,
here are a few tips to get you ready for spring:
- Get a head start on
spring cleaning--start with your pantry! Remove all processed,
refined, simple carbohydrates (cookies, crackers, pasta, chips). Replace with
dried fruit, raw almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, fig bars, or popcorn
for snacking.
- Eat foods rich in the
B vitamins to decrease depression or mood swings: chicken,
legumes, fish, bananas, avocados, dark leafy greens. Include fresh
apples, pears and citrus for fiber.
- Take a winter walk. Your
body needs to be in motion! Shed the unwanted winter
pounds and increase circulation and produce energy with a brisk walk
. . . breathe in the anticipation of spring.
- Drink LOTS of water. Your
body is 75% water and needs to stay hydrated!
