Berries in Season

For a healthy and tasty Berry Crisp:

Berries
  • Choose blueberry, strawberry (sliced), raspberry or blackberry
    (Berries are rich in vital nutrients and low in calories)
  • Rinse 2-cups of fruit thoroughly and set aside
  • Squeeze juice from 1 orange and set aside
  • Mix in separate bowl, 2 cups old-fashioned oats, 2 Tablespoons flour, ¾ brown sugar, ½ cup chopped almonds or walnuts and ½ cup melted butter
  • Place fruit in glass baking dish, pour orange juice over fruit, sprinkle oat mixture over fruit
  • Bake in preheated 350 degree F. oven 35-40 minutes until golden brown. Serve with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream. Serves two.

Summer Season fruits may also be used in this recipe: rhubarb (will need more sweetener), mango, peach, or a combination of fruits. Enjoy!
